Christian Denomination Beliefs

Christian Denomination Beliefs

What are the differences between the various Christian Denomination beliefs? Which of them fall under “Christianity?” Are some more “correct” than others? Which are the most popular? How were the founded? These denominations confuse many non-Christians because Christianity seems so inconsistent that they tend to want to avoid it altogether. Even many that claim to be a particular denomination fail to understand the differences. It is important to understand these denominations, so that we can extract true Christianity.

Definitions

Before we get into the denominations, let’s start off with some basic definitions. The following is a list of different fundamental beliefs in Christianity.

1. Arminian – this is the belief that a person’s choosing (or lack of choosing) of belief in Jesus Christ during his or her lifetime will result in either eternal heaven or eternal hell, this is the most common Christian belief

2. Calvinism – God has pre-selected part of mankind to enter heaven and the rest of mankind will suffer in eternal hell

3. Full Preterits/Covenant Creationism – a person must choose to believe in Jesus Christ during his or her lifetime to enter eternal heaven or they will cease to exist after death (no hell)

4. Annihilation – a person must choose to believe in Jesus Christ during his or her lifetime to enter eternal heaven, then at one point God will raise everyone from the dead, judge and punish everyone, and those that chose not to believe in Jesus Christ during their lifetime will cease to exist (no hell)

5. Universal Reconciliation – a person’s choosing (or lack of choosing) of belief in Jesus Christ during his or her lifetime will result in either heaven or hell, however, due to the power of Jesus’ resurrection, all will eventually be saved from hell and enter heaven

6. Restoration – a person’s choosing (or lack of choosing) of belief in Jesus Christ during his or her lifetime will result in either heaven or hell, however, due to God’s laws of restoration and judgment, God will restore all men to complete knowledge of the truth and spiritual perfection, which is far greater than “heaven or hell”

If you have read my other articles, you know that I believe in Restoration, which is the only belief that fully explains the Bible from beginning to end. Now let us get into the various denominations. The denominations are listed below in order of popularity. Click on a denomination below for a brief description.

Catholicism

Eastern Orthodox

Pentecostals

Protestants - Protestants originated in the 16th century era known as the Protestant Reformation. They disagreed with Catholicism to various degrees. Today, there are approximately 600 million Protestants worldwide. However, there is a wide range of beliefs under Protestantism. Protestantism includes many denominations including:

      Baptists

      Episcopalian/Anglician

      Presbyterian

      Methodist

      Lutheran

      Seventh-Day-Adventists

      Anabaptist

The above list is a summary of all the major Christian Denomination beliefs. After reading them, see my Conclusion.
